A mid-sized management consultancy wishes to appoint a director to build a ‘selective’ public sector consulting practice, aimed at both local and central government operations.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to fashion strategies and service lines and build a new practice area, within realistic timescales, working with a successful and collegiate senior management team.
The focus will be upon developing performance/productivity improvement, process driven and cost optimisation solutions, which will also complement other commercial sector offerings provided by the firm, so, consulting resource will be available for projects. However, it is envisaged the early days of this position will comprise a multi-functional ‘selling and doing’ role, as consulting services are initiated and ramped-up: consequently, revenue expectation has been adjusted accordingly, allowing time to build service lines.
The successful candidate will become a member of the senior team and will be able to demonstrate success and experience gained from within the following areas:
· Business development and account management – networking, proposition development, bid management, engagement management – effectively 'selling-in', 'selling-on' and 'cross-selling'.
· Leadership, team building and management.
· A successful track record of consulting within the public sector (local/central government) and an in-depth appreciation of the immediate issues facing these operations.
· Strong programme, project management and facilitation skills.
· Delivering performance improvement, process driven change and cost optimisation solutions within either local or central government operations.
· Application of lean and 6 Sigma approaches
